The Odisha State Cooperative Milk Producers’ Federation (OMFED) has launched the distribution of micro-ATMs across milk cooperative societies to strengthen financial inclusion and improve banking access for dairy farmers. In the first phase, 35 milk cooperative societies in Cuttack district received micro-ATMs, while 20 societies in Sambalpur district had already been equipped, taking the total to 55 cooperative societies.
The initiative, implemented in collaboration with the Odisha State Cooperative Bank, enables dairy farmers to withdraw milk payment dues and carry out secure, transparent and hassle-free banking transactions directly from their local cooperative societies. OMFED Managing Director Vijay Amruta Kulange said the move addresses long-standing challenges faced by farmers who often had to travel long distances to access banking services, particularly during the monsoon season.
By bringing banking facilities closer to rural communities, the initiative is expected to improve payment accessibility, reduce transaction delays and support the digital transformation of Odisha’s dairy cooperative ecosystem while enhancing convenience for thousands of milk producers.
