The National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) is conducting a three-week international training programme on Ovum Pick-Up (OPU), In Vitro Embryo Production (IVEP) and Embryo Transfer (ET) technologies for scientists from Botswana and Burundi, reinforcing India’s growing role in global dairy capacity building.
The programme, running from July 20 to August 2026, is being organised under the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Technical Cooperation Fellowship Programme, with the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), Government of India, serving as the local coordinating agency. During the training, the visiting scientists met NDDB Chairman Dr. Meenesh Shah, who reviewed their progress and welcomed the delegation.
Participants appreciated the combination of classroom learning and hands-on practical training, stating that it significantly enhanced their technical expertise and confidence. Dr. Shah reaffirmed NDDB’s commitment to supporting both countries through continued technical training, access to quality bovine germplasm from India, and assistance in establishing laboratory infrastructure for genetic improvement programmes.
The initiative reflects NDDB’s continued efforts to share India’s dairy development expertise internationally while strengthening cooperation in animal breeding, biotechnology and dairy genetic improvement, further enhancing India’s position as a global knowledge partner in the dairy sector.
