Kinisla and Teagasc have launched a renewed three-year Joint Dairy Programme, “Innovating for Success,” building on a partnership that has continued for more than 30 years. Launched at Teagasc Moorepark on September 4, the programme aims to strengthen the technical performance, profitability and sustainability of Kinisla milk suppliers through practical, farm-focused learning and access to the latest research and technical advice.
The programme will focus on pasture utilisation, herd genetic merit and fertility, financial management and labour efficiency, while also helping farmers improve water quality, reduce emissions, enhance biodiversity and plan for generational renewal. Kinisla milk suppliers have increased output over the past decade, supported by larger herds and investment in their farms, making continued technical progress important for maintaining competitiveness.
The initiative will operate through three key strands: an Innovation Farm Network, Dairy Business Performance Workshops and a Resilient Grazing Systems Pillar. Innovation Farms will demonstrate leading practices and technologies that can be shared across the wider supplier base, while the programme will also provide technical workshops and individual farm consultations.
The programme will link with Teagasc’s GROdairy project on innovative farm-succession structures and work alongside Kinisla’s Evolve RegenDairy programme. It will also collaborate with the Signpost Programme, Better Farming for Water and ASSAP to support environmental sustainability. Kinisla Director of Agribusiness & Sustainability James O’Connell said the partnership will give suppliers access to practical knowledge and opportunities to improve their farm businesses for the future.
