The proposed intervention focuses on providing farmers with fodder seeds and related inputs so that they can grow feed locally rather than depend entirely on purchased fodder. The approach is particularly relevant for dairy farmers because fodder availability is closely linked to milk productivity and the overall economics of livestock rearing.
Fodder shortages remain a structural concern for India’s dairy sector, with availability affected by factors including limited land under fodder cultivation, weather conditions, crop patterns and rising demand from livestock owners.
