Jammu & Kashmir has exceeded its White Revolution 2.0 targets, marking a significant milestone in strengthening the region’s dairy cooperative ecosystem. The Union Government has released ₹1.40 crore to support the formation of new dairy cooperative societies after the Union Territory surpassed its approved targets under the national programme.
According to official data, J&K was assigned a target of forming 332 new Dairy Cooperative Societies (DCSs) and three Milk Producer Companies (MPCs). However, the region has already established 555 Dairy Cooperative Societies and five Milk Producer Companies, significantly outperforming the original objectives.
The newly sanctioned financial assistance will be used to establish 28 additional Dairy Cooperative Societies, further expanding organised milk procurement and farmer participation. The achievement reflects the growing momentum of cooperative-led dairy development in Jammu & Kashmir, with the initiative aimed at improving milk collection infrastructure, strengthening rural livelihoods, increasing farmer incomes and enhancing the overall dairy value chain under the Government of India’s White Revolution 2.0 mission.
