Karnataka’s Bangalore Milk Union Limited (Bamul) has secured a major institutional contract to supply 2 lakh kg of Nandini ghee per month to the Tirumala Tirupati temple for the next six months, marking a significant milestone in cooperative-led dairy supply.

The agreement, signed with the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams, is valued at around ₹136 crore, with daily supplies of approximately 12.5 tonnes of ghee planned throughout the contract period.

Bamul President D.K. Suresh highlighted that Nandini ghee has built a strong national reputation for quality and taste, which helped secure the tender, while also noting that the cooperative has historically supplied ghee to Tirupati through the Karnataka Milk Federation.

To ensure product integrity, the cooperative has implemented digital lock technology in transportation, allowing containers to be opened only באמצעות secure password systems, reinforcing quality assurance across the supply chain.

The development underscores the growing role of dairy cooperatives in large-scale institutional supply, leveraging strong procurement networks and quality assurance systems to capture high-value contracts, while also creating downstream benefits for farmers through increased demand for milk and milk products.
