Bihar’s flagship dairy brand Sudha is accelerating its global expansion strategy, targeting key international markets including the Gulf and Southeast Asia amid rising global demand for dairy products. The brand, backed by the Bihar State Milk Cooperative Federation (COMFED), showcased its capabilities at Indusfood Asia 2026 in Singapore, engaging with global buyers and distributors to build long-term export partnerships and strengthen distribution channels.

The expansion builds on initial export trials, with Sudha already shipping products such as ghee and traditional Indian sweets to the United States and Canada over the past year, helping the cooperative gain insights into global logistics, compliance, and consumer preferences. Supported by a vast network of milk societies and lakhs of farmers, the move is expected to boost rural incomes while positioning Bihar as an emerging player in the global dairy trade.

The initiative aligns with India’s broader dairy growth story, with leaders like Narendra Modi highlighting the country’s rising global dairy footprint and increasing international recognition of Indian dairy products. India’s dairy sector has seen significant expansion, with milk production rising nearly 70% over the past decade to around 248 million tonnes, reflecting the sector’s growing scale and export potential. With investments in quality standards, packaging, cold chain, and logistics, Sudha aims to transition from pilot exports to a sustained international presence, leveraging India’s cost competitiveness and strong cooperative model to tap global dairy markets while ensuring value flows back to farmers.
