Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) has renewed its “Gift Milk Programme” in partnership with the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) at its Rourkela Steel Plant, continuing efforts to improve nutrition among schoolchildren through regular milk distribution. The initiative targets children in government schools, providing them with milk to support better health, nutrition, and overall development.
The programme is part of SAIL’s broader corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts, focusing on addressing malnutrition and enhancing educational outcomes in surrounding communities. By ensuring access to nutritious dairy, the initiative aims to strengthen immunity and support physical and cognitive growth among students.
NDDB’s involvement brings expertise in dairy supply chains and quality assurance, ensuring safe and consistent delivery of milk to beneficiaries. The collaboration highlights how public sector enterprises and dairy institutions can work together to address nutrition challenges at scale.
The renewal of the programme reflects continued commitment toward community welfare, while reinforcing the role of dairy as a critical component in addressing child nutrition and food security in India.
