Belarus has successfully completed its first exchange-based dairy export transactions to Indonesia, marking a significant expansion of its dairy trade into Southeast Asia. According to the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE), the deals included 25 tonnes of butter and 350 tonnes of skimmed milk powder (SMP) with a combined contract value of approximately US$1.1 million.

The buyer was a major Jakarta-based importer and distributor serving Indonesia’s food industry. The development is considered an important step in diversifying Belarusian dairy export destinations and strengthening its presence in Asia’s rapidly growing dairy markets. Indonesia is viewed as a particularly attractive market, importing around US$600 million worth of butter and milk powder annually.

Between January and May 2026, Belarus exported 28,000 tonnes of butter valued at US$182 million, representing a 2.5-fold increase in volume and a 1.9-fold increase in value compared to the same period in 2025. During the same period, exports of skimmed milk powder reached 98,000 tonnes worth more than US$285 million, with volumes rising 174% year-on-year and export value increasing 180%.

Buyers from 16 countries purchased Belarusian butter, while SMP exports involved participants from 25 countries, with the number of regular buyers increasing to 208 companies, up by 57 year-on-year. Industry analysts note that the new Indonesia route could further strengthen Belarus’s dairy export growth and support deeper trade links with Southeast Asian markets.
