The Belagavi District Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union (BEMUL) has reported a strong financial performance for FY 2025, posting a net profit of US$1.3 million (approximately ₹11 crore), reflecting continued growth in Karnataka’s cooperative dairy sector.
The union recorded a turnover of around US$162 million (approximately ₹1,380 crore) during the financial year, driven by higher milk procurement, efficient operations and increased demand for dairy products. Encouraged by the results, BEMUL has announced plans to establish a mega dairy plant with a processing capacity of 10 lakh litres of milk per day, significantly expanding its existing infrastructure to meet rising consumer demand and support future growth.
The proposed facility is expected to strengthen milk procurement, enhance value-added dairy production and create better market opportunities for thousands of member dairy farmers across the Belagavi region. The expansion aligns with Karnataka’s broader strategy of modernising dairy infrastructure, improving processing efficiency and increasing farmer incomes through the cooperative model.
