Organic milk is rapidly strengthening its position in Switzerland, with 43% of all milk sold in retail now coming from organic production, according to January 2026 data from the Federal Office for Agriculture (FOAG).

This means nearly every second litre of milk sold is organic, marking a significant year-on-year increase. The trend is supported by stable to slightly rising prices for organic milk, alongside a monthly increase in producer prices for organic raw milk and growing retail sales volumes.

Beyond liquid milk, organic penetration is also expanding across dairy categories such as yogurt, butter, and cheese, where organic shares range from single digits to over 20% depending on the product.

The data underscores the continued shift toward organic dairy in Switzerland, driven by strong consumer demand and sustained value growth across the category. (bluewin.ch)
