The Food Safety and Drug Administration (FSDA) team in Agra took action against a milk tanker suspected of adulteration, dumping 5000 litres of tainted milk worth Rs 1.25 lakh into drains. According to reports, the milk was sourced from a local milk dairy in Madhya Pradesh’s Morena. The action followed the suspicious death of two children who died after consuming milk at night. An investigation has also been launched in the suspicious death of two children to ascertain the exact cause of death.

As per reports, the FSDA team sprang into action after receiving a tip-off about the milk tanker’s suspicious contents. Upon interrogation, the driver revealed that the tanker contained ‘sapareta milk’, a term used to describe milk that has been mixed with other substances to increase its quantity. The team collected milk samples for further investigation and penalised the dairy firm for violating food safety norms and not transporting milk in a temperature-controlled tanker.

Two Children Died After Consuming Milk At Night

An investigation is underway to ascertain the exact cause of the children’s deaths and the extent of milk adulteration. The FSDA assured further action against milk adulteration to ensure public health safety and prevent such incidents in the future.

According to reports, the milk tanker was intercepted in Arnauta Village under the Basai Aarela police station. The dairy firm was found to be transporting milk in a non-temperature-controlled tanker, which is a clear violation of food safety norms.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing, with the concerned investigating authorities probing to ascertain the exact cause of the children’s deaths and the extent of milk adulteration. The FSDA has promised to take stringent action against those found guilty of milk adulteration.

The incident has raised concerns about the safety of milk being sold in the region and the need for stricter enforcement of food safety norms. Meanwhile, the FSDA’s swift action has sent a strong message to those involved in milk adulteration that such practices will not be tolerated.
