Amul Dairy, headquartered in Anand, Gujarat, has announced a strategic move to support its extensive network of over 700,000 milk producers across Anand, Kheda, and Mahisagar districts. Effective June 1, 2025, the cooperative will increase the milk procurement price by ₹10 per kilogram of fat, raising it from ₹855 to ₹865—the highest rate in Gujarat to date.

In a historic first, Amul is simultaneously reducing cattle feed prices. A 70-kg bag of feed will now cost ₹1,505, down from ₹1,540, and a 50-kg bag will be priced at ₹1,050, reduced from ₹1,075. This dual approach aims to enhance farmers’ earnings while lowering their input costs.

Chairman Vipul Patel highlighted that for the 2024-25 financial year, the final milk price paid was ₹1,028 per kilogram of fat, marking the highest ever for the union. This initiative underscores Amul’s commitment to bolstering the economic well-being of its farmer members.

Industry Insight:
Amul’s balanced strategy of increasing procurement prices while reducing input costs sets a precedent for cooperatives nationwide. This move not only strengthens farmer loyalty but also enhances the sustainability of the dairy supply chain.
