The Bihar Animal Sciences University (BASU) in Patna has completed a major milestone with the near-completion of its new Dairy Engineering facility, built over 5,704 square metres. Equipped with cutting-edge dairy process engineering and food engineering laboratories, computer labs, workshops, and four seminar halls, the facility aims to become a key hub for dairy research, education, and innovation. Constructed under the Bihar Building Construction Department’s supervision, this initiative is part of a larger ₹890-crore campus development project, scheduled for full completion by end-2025.
The broader campus is being developed on a 224.53-acre site and will feature comprehensive facilities including a teaching veterinary clinical complex, farmer training centre, sports complexes, residential accommodation for students, scientists, and staff, and green building elements. The dairy engineering building specifically is expected to significantly enhance research capabilities and practical training, addressing critical gaps in dairy technology education and sectoral development. Continuous quality checks and site inspections are being enforced to ensure timely project delivery.
Industry Insight:
With Bihar emerging as a key player in India’s dairy sector, this advanced facility at BASU is poised to catalyze regional dairy entrepreneurship, R&D-driven production improvements, and skilled manpower development for cooperatives and private players alike.
