Pune-based Provilac has raised US$14 million from Singapore-headquartered Panthera Growth Partners in its first institutional funding round, with the capital earmarked for expanding manufacturing capacity, accelerating innovation across its high-protein dairy portfolio and entering new markets, including Bengaluru. Built as a bootstrapped business for more than a decade, Provilac operates an integrated fresh-dairy model designed to maintain control over product quality and consistency from sourcing to doorstep delivery.

Provilac’s flagship high-protein milk provides 25g of protein in a 250ml serving, roughly three times the protein of regular milk, using ultrafiltration to concentrate naturally occurring milk protein rather than adding protein powder or other protein sources. The product is lactose-free, while the company’s portfolio also includes infused high-protein milk variants and high-protein curd in multiple formats.

The company currently serves more than 50,000 households every day, primarily through its own app-based subscription model across Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, Delhi NCR and Jaipur. Provilac is expanding into Bengaluru through FirstClub and Blinkit Gourmet, while also planning high-protein dairy products fortified with vitamins and micronutrients and additional fresh-dairy formats.

Quality assurance is another part of the operating model, with third-party testing conducted every three months at NABL-accredited laboratories for nutritional parameters, antibiotic residues, adulteration, aflatoxin, microbial analysis and other relevant safety parameters. Founder and CEO Siddharth Runwal said the funding will help strengthen manufacturing, accelerate innovation and reach more families, while Panthera Growth Partners General Partner Shilpa Kulkarni highlighted India’s protein gap and growing consumer willingness to pay for convenient, better nutrition.

Founded in 2013 and headquartered in Pune, Provilac is positioning fresh high-protein dairy as an everyday nutrition category rather than a supplement-led proposition. The funding marks a significant shift from a decade-plus bootstrapped model toward institutional-backed expansion in India’s growing protein-focused dairy market. (Moneycontrol)
