Paras Dairy and Bengaluru-based KIS Group have signed an MoU to form a joint venture and establish 10 BioCNG (compressed biogas) plants across India, with an estimated investment of ₹1,000 crore. The plants are planned across Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and other states, marking a significant move to link the dairy sector with clean-energy production.
Under the proposed partnership, KIS Group will handle technology, construction and plant operations, while Paras Dairy will be responsible for feedstock arrangements, land and required approvals. The MoU was signed at the IBET Expo.
Founded in 2006, KIS Group specialises in biogas, BioCNG and BioLNG solutions, while Paras Dairy operates plants at Sahibabad, Guloathi and Sandila in Uttar Pradesh, Malanpur in Madhya Pradesh and Newasa in Maharashtra.
The partnership creates an opportunity for dairy operations to participate more directly in the circular bioeconomy, by converting suitable organic feedstock into a renewable fuel while creating an additional business avenue alongside conventional dairy processing. For the dairy industry, the project also signals growing interest in integrating milk production, waste management and clean-energy generation.
With ₹1,000 crore planned across 10 plants, the proposed investment represents an average planned investment of about ₹100 crore per plant. The initiative could therefore become an important model for how large dairy businesses can diversify into renewable-energy infrastructure while supporting India’s broader clean-energy transition.
