Food safety inspections conducted by the Commissioner of Food Safety, Telangana, on July 3, 2026, uncovered multiple violations at three food establishments in the Cyberabad region, including an Instamart warehouse operated by Kwickbox Retail Private Limited in Gajularamaram.
Officials found expired dairy products, including cheese, yoghurt smoothies and paneer, which were immediately discarded. The inspection also revealed poor storage practices, with vegetarian and non-vegetarian products stored together, a disorganised cold storage area, non-compliance with First In First Out (FIFO) and First Expiry First Out (FEFO) inventory systems, the absence of a designated area for expired or damaged food, and missing medical fitness certificates for food handlers.
The warehouse received a hygiene score of 76%. Inspections at Old Trees Cafe in Kandlakoya found expired sweet sauce and yellow curry paste, along with the absence of medical fitness certificates, a water analysis report and covered dustbins, resulting in a hygiene score of 82%.
At Baisakhi Family Dhaba, officials detected expired baby corn and black pepper masala, missing FSSAI and trade licence displays, lack of pest control, water testing and medical fitness records, unlabelled semi-prepared food, use of synthetic food colours in Chinese dishes, dead flies inside a refrigerator and rusted iron knives, which were replaced with food-grade stainless steel knives during the inspection.
The dhaba received a hygiene score of 63%. The inspections highlight the importance of strict food safety compliance, inventory management and hygiene practices across food and dairy supply chains. (DairyNews)
