Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has directed the state government to ensure that economic empowerment initiatives effectively benefit the Bhovi community, with a special focus on expanding livelihood opportunities through the dairy sector.

Chairing a review meeting of the Karnataka Bhovi Development Corporation, the Chief Minister instructed the Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) to formulate special programmes that encourage members of the Bhovi community to take up dairy farming as a sustainable source of income.

He also called for better implementation of welfare and self-employment schemes to improve economic conditions within the community. Stressing that development programmes must reach the intended beneficiaries, Siddaramaiah asked officials to strengthen awareness, monitoring and execution of existing initiatives while ensuring greater participation of eligible families.

The move reflects the Karnataka government’s continued emphasis on using dairy farming as a vehicle for rural livelihood generation and inclusive socio-economic development.
