Karnataka’s dairy sector has achieved a major milestone, with the Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) recording daily milk procurement of over 1 crore litres, despite the challenges typically associated with the summer season. The achievement highlights the strength of the state’s cooperative dairy network and the resilience of its milk producers.
Reports indicate that daily procurement has reached around 1.05–1.06 crore litres, surpassing previous records and reinforcing Karnataka’s position among India’s leading milk-producing states. Favourable rainfall, abundant green fodder availability, improved cattle health, and strong farmer participation have been identified as key factors driving the surge in production.
KMF’s extensive network of milk unions and dairy farmers has helped ensure stable milk supplies while supporting producer incomes. The record procurement comes at a time when demand for milk and dairy products remains strong, demonstrating the growing efficiency and capacity of Karnataka’s dairy value chain. (The Times of India)
