Asia is becoming an increasingly important export destination for Poland’s dairy industry as rising milk consumption and growing demand for high-quality dairy products create new opportunities for exporters. According to Poland’s Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the country produced 16 million tonnes of milk in 2024, making it the third-largest milk producer in the European Union, while dairy exports reached €3.6 billion during the year. Industry officials believe Asian markets will play a crucial role in sustaining future growth as domestic production surpluses continue to expand.
Among Asian destinations, South Korea and Vietnam have emerged as strategic growth markets. Polish dairy exports to South Korea reached nearly €32 million in 2024, while exports during January–September 2025 totaled €29.2 million, representing a 9% year-on-year increase. Liquid milk and cream account for approximately 90% of Polish dairy shipments to the country. Authorities are also working to secure market access for additional products, including UHT cream and whey powders, which could further boost trade volumes. (Trade.gov.pl)
Vietnam is proving to be one of the fastest-growing dairy markets in Southeast Asia. During the first nine months of 2025, Polish dairy exports to Vietnam reached nearly €26 million, marking a substantial 45% increase year-on-year. Liquid milk and cream represented around 73% of exports, while demand for whey products also continued to rise. Regular bilateral agricultural cooperation between Poland and Vietnam is expected to support further expansion of dairy trade.
The growing focus on Asia comes as Poland’s dairy exports continue to perform strongly worldwide. During January–September 2025, the value of Polish dairy exports reached a record €3.1 billion, up 14% from the previous year. While the European Union accounted for 73% of export value, policymakers and industry leaders view Asia as a major long-term growth engine due to its rapidly expanding consumer base, increasing purchasing power and rising demand for premium dairy products.
Industry experts believe continued promotional campaigns, stronger trade relations and expanded product approvals will help Polish dairy companies strengthen their presence across Asia, positioning the region as a key driver of export growth in the coming years.
