The Odisha State Cooperative Milk Producers’ Federation (OMFED) has achieved its highest-ever annual turnover of ₹1,036.82 crore during the 2025-26 financial year, while recording a net profit of ₹10.23 crore, marking a major milestone for the state’s dairy cooperative sector.

The achievement was highlighted during a review meeting chaired by Odisha’s Fisheries and Animal Resources Development Minister Gokulananda Mallick, who reaffirmed the government’s commitment to making Odisha self-reliant in milk and dairy products. OMFED currently procures around 6.70 lakh litres of milk daily from nearly 3.24 lakh dairy farmers through 4,455 milk cooperative societies across the state.

Over the last two years, 1,061 new milk cooperative societies have been registered, significantly expanding the cooperative network. To strengthen processing infrastructure, new dairy plants with capacities of 50,000 litres per day at Sonepur and 30,000 litres per day at Tangi have been established. Under the Mukhyamantri Kamadhenu Yojana, 21 new milk chilling centres have been set up to improve cold-chain infrastructure, while 160 new milk collection centres are being opened across different blocks of Odisha to enhance grassroots procurement.

OMFED Managing Director Vijay Amruta Kulange said the federation is focusing on hassle-free milk procurement, increased production and improving the economic prosperity of nearly 3.28 lakh dairy farmers by 2030. The cooperative has also expanded its value-added product portfolio with offerings such as lassi, UHT chocolate shake, A2 milk, A2 ghee, balti dahi and gulab jamun, which are receiving encouraging consumer response.
