In a major push to strengthen India’s cooperative dairy ecosystem, the National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC) and the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance financing, training, and capacity-building support for dairy cooperatives. The collaboration aims to improve access to institutional credit, modernise infrastructure, and build technical capabilities across the dairy value chain, ultimately driving higher farmer incomes through cooperative-led growth.

Under the agreement, both organisations will work jointly to identify and support viable dairy projects, facilitate credit linkages, and provide technical expertise and training programs for cooperative institutions. The partnership is expected to accelerate the development of dairy cooperatives by strengthening governance, improving productivity, and enabling better market access for milk producers.

This strategic alignment reflects the government’s broader vision of leveraging the cooperative model to increase farmer income and enhance rural livelihoods, particularly in the dairy sector, which plays a critical role in India’s agricultural economy. By combining NCDC’s financing strength with NDDB’s technical expertise, the initiative is set to create a more resilient, efficient, and scalable dairy ecosystem nationwide.
