A quirky culinary moment has captured wide attention: OddFellows Ice Cream in Brooklyn, in collaboration with parenting brand Frida, has launched a limited-edition breast-milk inspired ice cream. Despite its provocative name, the product contains no human breast milk. Instead, it utilizes liposomal bovine colostrum to replicate the nutrient-rich profile and flavor characteristics of early breast milk, such as sweetness, a faint saltiness, and honey-like undertones.

Described as creamy, smooth, and distinctively yellow-orange, the ice cream carries added nutrients like Omega-3s, calcium, iron, vitamins B and D, and zinc.  It debuted in early August, coinciding with Frida’s launch of a new manual breast pump and National Breastfeeding Awareness Month. Samples are available at OddFellows’ Dumbo location through August 10, with pints available for nationwide shipping. Reactions have ranged from nostalgic delight to playful curiosity.
