Dau Shri Vasudev Chandrakar Kamdhenu Vishwavidyalaya, Durg, and Indian Dairy Association (West Zone) jointly organized a two-day National Conference on “Dairying: A Sustainable Approach for Transforming Livelihoods and Health” on April 10-11, 2025, at Raipur.
The event was inaugurated by Sri Tank Ram Verma, Minister of Sports and Youth Welfare, Govt. of Chhattisgarh, with Shri S. Rajeev, Executive Director, NDDB as Guest of Honour, and Dr. R.S. Sodhi, President, IDA, as Special Guest. Dr. R.R.B. Singh, Vice-Chancellor, DSVCKV, chaired the session with Dr. J.B. Prajapati, Chairman, IDA(WZ), Dr. Sudhir Uprit, Convener, and Dr. Vikram Singh Sisodia present.
Key addresses highlighted dairying’s role in livelihoods, productivity enhancement, cooperative revival (Devbhog), and countering misinformation on milk. Seven progressive dairy farmers, including four women, were felicitated.
The conference drew 350 farmers, 100 scientists, 150 students, and industry leaders. Technical sessions covered challenges in animal husbandry, milk production, processing innovations, and startup ideas, with experts from NDDB, BAIF, Nestle, ISSER Mohali, Helly Food, RA Consultancy, and Kamdhenu University Gujarat.
A National Dairy Quiz featured 23 teams, with Dairy Polytechnic Bemetara, DSVCKV winning, followed by ICAR-NDRI Karnal.
A cultural evening and a well-attended valedictory ceremony concluded the event, with dignitaries including Dr. Singh, Dr. Prajapati, Shri Venkat Ramanna, Dr. Bhanupratap Rathiya, Shri Arun Patil, Shri Madhav Patgaonkar, and Dr. Uprit. Sponsors included Sarda Dairy (Vachan), IB Group, Devbhog, NDDB, BIS, GOELD, Gaia, DeLaval, Everest Instruments, Ice Make, DAPL, BEC Foods, UCO Bank, SBI, and IDBI Bank.
